Airbus A300
The A300-600R entered service in 1991 as the main successor of the A300 family. The aircraft is capable of being flown by a 2-person cockpit crew consisting of the pilot and the copilot and does not need a flight engineer. The A300-600R is notable for its wingtip fences.
Boeing 737-400
This classic aircraft is a derivative of the 737 family. The 150-seat 737-400 is used on domestic routes.
Boeing 737-800
This next-generation aircraft is a derivative of the 737 family and is equipped with a new engine and other enhancements including the latest in electronic systems. The 150-seat 737-800 is used on domestic routes.
Boeing 747-200
While the fuselage of the B747-200B was the same size as the B747-100, its performance was improved by increasing engine thrust, reinforcing the fuselage, and expanding fuel tanks. JAL introduced 17 B747-200B aircraft over the decade of the 1970s. *Note the 747-200 has been retired from JAL's main fleet.
Boeing 747-300
The -300 series of 747 is the last version of the "Classic" Jumbo Jet and features a three-man cockpit. Main feature is the stretched upper deck. *Note the 747-300 is progrossivly being retired from JAL's fleet.
Boeing 747-400
The newest variation of the 747 family is capable of being flown by a two-person cockpit crew using the latest in electronics technology and system automation. The international version of this aircraft features extra winglets on the wingtips to improve airflow.
Boeing 767-200
The 767-200 is capable of being flown by a two-person cockpit crew through the use of system automation features and digital technology.
Boeing 767-300
The 767-300ER is capable of being flown by a two-person cockpit crew through the use of system automation features and digital technology. The aircraft is 6.4 meters longer than a 767-200 and is used on domestic and short-haul international routes.
Boeing 777-200
The 777 was jointly developed by Boeing and a group of airlines and is the most technologically advanced twinjet aircraft in the world. The 777 offers superior comfort, fuel-efficiency, and noise performance.
Boeing 777-300
The 777 was jointly developed by Boeing and a group of airlines and is the most technologically advanced twinjet aircraft in the world. The 777 offers superior comfort, fuel-efficiency, and noise performance. The 777-300 is a stretch version of the 777-200, surpassing the 747-400 by a length of 3.2 meters. The 477-seat 777-300 rivals the seating capacity of the 747 Jumbo Jet. Notable features include the use of six wheels on each main landing gear. The 777-300ER is an environmentally friendly aircraft being 20% more fuel efficient than the B747-400, and producing less noise and exhaust.
Canadair CRJ-200LR
The CRJ-200, whose development began in 1989, was the world's first 50-seat regional jet. Based on the business jet Challenger, the CRJ-200's cabin is stretched 5.7 meters while using the same fuselage cross-section and cabin pressure capability. The 2.48m-wide cabin features 2 + 2 seating to carry up to 50 passengers. The CRJ-200 is operated by 2 pilots and carries up to 2 flight attendants.
DeHavilland Dash-8 Q400
The Q designation of this next-generation, high-speed Q400 turboprop airliner denotes the quiet noise levels of this aircraft, which rivals jet aircraft in terms of both speed and comfort. As part of the JAC fleet, the quiet and comfortable Q400 is sure to result in an enjoyable flying experience.
McDonnel-Douglas MD-80
The MD-81 aircraft entered service in 1985. It continues to be used to transport cargo on JAL local routes. The MD-87 uses the same engine as the MD-81, but with a fuselage that is 5 meters shorter. The MD-87 is the smallest aircraft in JAL Express' fleet and is used for various local routes including flights from and to Osaka-Itami.
McDonnel-Douglas MD-90
The MD-90 uses the V2500 engine, which offers improved fuel efficiency combined with reduced noise and emissions. Unlike the MD-81 and MD-87 aircraft, the MD-90 offers audio and video amenities including small video monitors that can be stored away in overhead stowage bins.
